This past weekend my roommate invited all of us (the roommates and our girlfriends) out to his ranch in Colorado. It is located outside of Boulder right below the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Boulder in general was a beautiful town but Jake's ranch was as well. It is spread across 40 acres of land so you not only feel isolated but the only sounds you hear are that of nature. I've stayed in ski houses, beach houses and lakes houses before but never a ranch. You can judge by the pictures but I would highly recommend it given the opportunity.

The Lighthearted Ranch. |
Fireplace, no TV and view of the mountains make it easy to sit
around, relax, and do nothing. |
Beautiful outdoor patio, perfect for drinking coffee and the morning
and wine in the evening. |
The ranch had a number of animals; billy goats, sheep,
lambs, llamas. |
Samantha and I on the ranch. |
The ranch had a perfect view of the sunset behind the mountains. |
Complete reversal from being on top of people in Chicago to
being surrounded only by land in Colorado. |
Horses strolling around on the ranch. |

And of course, every ranch has to have a Ford Pickup. If that doesn't
scream America, I don't know what does. |
