Livin' the Island Life Mon'

Touch down.  Samantha and I have escaped the bitterness tundra of Chibera for what hopefully is a slow five days on the island of Jamaica.  Southwest recently added a route from Midway to Montego Bay and when Samantha and I saw this, we had to act...especially considering our flights were only $300 round trip. We knew way back in September that in the dead of winter, we would be miserable and dying to feel the warmth of the sun.  Lucky for us, we escaped just in time as Chicago got dumped with two feet of snow two days ago and has high temperatures of about 20 degrees.

For the next five days, we will be staying at a small resort, The Caves, on the west coast of Jamaica.  Rather than touring around the island, we will be in pure relaxation mode that consists of a lot of sun, reading and Red Stripe.  Within our first few hours, it was clearly evident that our hotel is the perfect destination for own journey to vacation euphoria.  The people are extremely friendly, the grounds are unbelievable (more to come on this later), the food & drinks are free and of course, the sunsets are out of a Jimmy Buffett dream.

Lounging around won't be our only daily task though, we have snorkeling, kayaking and cliff jumping all planned out for the next couple of days.  Yet check back on that later, there is some Red Stripe and Jerk Chicken calling our names.
